Finishing the last assignment for this class allowed me to reflect on my growth this semester. Doing my ransom note made me realize how I have expanded my mind creatively in the last few months, by being challenged to make the craziest ideas. I believe having to think outside of my comfort zone has given me a better understanding of what being creative truly means. After this class, I know what goes into coming up with an idea and the steps involved in getting there.
The ransom note was one of my favorite projects. This was the perfect time to do this project I feel, because of the buildup of learning about all the factors that go into design. I saw how far the mind can go and how different everyone’s was, this took a level of brainstorming to come up with the idea. When I was coming up with mine I, of course, had a few bad ideas and was missing the mark in my opinion. But, when I came up with the idea that I ended up using, I knew it was what I wanted to do, I was pleased with how it turned out.
Overall this class has given me so much knowledge that I will be applying to my future classes and career. Learning about the steps of the design thinking process taught me what is truly put into creating something. Knowing all these stages gives me the ability to make my creations better by using the tools I have been taught in class. Being pushed out of my comfort zone in class has shown me what makes you a better creator, and I am happy I have had this practice in my first semester in college, so I got to learn this lesson early on. I have always wanted a career that I loved and wanted to work harder in because it interests me, after taking this class and knowing what my future can look like, I have more motivation to keep working hard to reach my goals.
